Yeah! Open Source has been stuffed, especially in the last year or two, with videos that appear pointless and offensive if you're the kind of person to take offense at anything, which I am not. There are videos here of what appear to be attacks on US troops, taken by turbaned attackers. There are videos with controversial political viewpoints. There are videos that appear to be random home movies, with shaky, unfocused shots of rainstorms, kitties, babies, kids playing, and household electronics being broken.

That's why I found it unusual that one video in the collection, which contained nothing even remotely nasty, was apparently arbitrarily removed, then added back after I mentioned it, but edited to change its description . I wouldn't have known about it if I wasn't re-authoring my web page and checking for dead links.

I was under the impression that this is the type of movie the Open Source section welcomed, and that the only videos banished from the site would be those containing hard-core pornography or copyright violations. I don't understand whjy the PHONE SEX video seemed to earn more than usual attention from the staff. It's not in the top ten downloads, but it is fairly popular, and I wouldn't be surprised to learn it was in the top twenty or thirty downloads among the thousands of videos here. Non-infringing, legal, popular Open Source videos are a good thing, right?

Anyway, I've already taken more than enough time to type about it here.

FP - I can't comment on the other stuff, but I think the item was originally removed because it was mistakenly believed pornographic - and therein lies the source of the confusion.

I know you've been a longtime and also constructive poster/uploader, so hopefully you will continue to be, and understand that the Archive content team (both in-house and out of house!) has an immense amount of things to curate and check, so sometimes things like that happen.

edited to change its description

The other day I had to take away some of your formatting because something was messing up the readability of the reviews (maybe some unclosed tags? not sure). But the text of your description is unchanged.

Oop - my fault - the description remains intact.

As to the formatting, the archive used to be more forgiving of HTML. Then a year or two ago (I think) the archive format was changed somehow and a lot of the codes that displayed properly in the past no longer worked. Some of them I could edit and fix, some I inexplicably couldn't, and some I probably forgot to check.

...and DH, you and the rest of the overworked archive staff are doing the work of the angels. Sorry if my posts seemed harsh or confrontational.

I feel your pain, those strings of ~A can get kind of strange to see everywhere! Meanwhile sorry if I seemed humorless over the item, it was just a context thing- but I did get the joke. ;)

Thanks so much for being both a solid contributor and helpful pair of eyes around here, Frank!
